Blackfield & Langley 1-4 Eastleigh Res.
LINEUP: Wayne Shaw, Ian Oliver, Ryan Woodford, Craig Cansdale, Liam Winzar, Lee O'Connell, Sayem Kabir, Lewis Hunt, Andy Weston, Ashley Jarvis, Ryan Lock
SUBS: Brett Williams, Martin Harris, Jordan Hamilton, Scott Gilham
The reserve team featuring Wayne Shaw and Ian Oliver dominated their opponents from start to finish and proved clinical in front of goal.
Eastleigh's first chance came in the 7th minute when trialist Lee O'Connell pass found Ryan Lock who tried to poke the ball past the keeper however a trailing arm from the Blackfield stopper saw the ball go out for a corner.
It didn't take long before Ian and Wayne's side had taken the lead. 14 minutes into the game and Lewis Hunt popped up from midfield to curl the ball with ease into the bottom corner as he linked up well with Ashley Jarvis whose hold up play created the goal.
Two chances in quick succession fell to Jarvis the first of which he perhaps might have done better as he found himself with just the keeper to beat but missed the target. Then, shortly after the young striker started an Eastleigh attack on the half way line as he sprayed the ball out to the left for O'Connell before meeting the cross with a good effort that went just past the post.
Eastleigh continued to create chances and just after half an hour of play, a delightful cross-field pass from Liam Winzar picked out O'Connell who was in space and he did all the rest by taking the ball down with a great touch before tucking the ball past the keeper for goal number 2.
Lewis Hunt picked up a slight knock and had to be replaced by Martin Harris shortly after the second goal.
The substitute Harris, who was at Blackfield last year, immediately got into the game by creating Eastleigh's third goal. A lovely throughball down the middle led to a confident first time finish from Ryan Lock to make it 3-0 at half time and to end a good 45 minutes worth of work.
HALF TIME - Blackfield & Langley 0-3 Eastleigh Res.
Ashley Jarvis, after looking very lively in the first half, very nearly made a goalscoring start to the second. As defenders backed off Jarvis kept sprinting towards goal before lashing a poweful effort from 25 yards only to be denied by a good stop from the keeper.
Despite Eastleigh being in control of the game a lapse in concentration led to the home side pulling a goal back. A corner came in from the left and due to the danger not being dealt with the ball crept in at the near post with Shaw unable to keep it out.
Soon after this setback, the young Eastleigh side were back in their stride once more. On the 59th minute Ashley Jarvis stepped up to take a free kick from 25 yards and a combination of power and swerve decieved the keeper as the ball flew past and into the back of the net for Eastleigh's fourth of the match.
JARVIS:
Scored the pick of the bunch with a belter of a freekick but later was asked to leave the pitch
Brett Williams and Scott GIlham came on to replace Ryan Lock and the captain Ryan Woodford and then a little while later, Jordan Hamilton was brought into the action with Lee O'Connell making way.
Towards the end of the game there were relatively few chances of note, however Sayem Kabir had an excellent effort thwarted by a good stop as it looked like the former Bashley player's shot was bound for the top corner.
The referee didn't have the best games and strangely asked Ashley Jarvis to leave the pitch despite marks down his side that indicated the Blackfield player was at fault. Then, despite the fact that it was only a friendly and that Eastleigh didnt have another goalkeeper on the bench, the referee nearly dimissed Wayne Shaw for dissent before changing his mind!
All in all it was another good win for the reserve team with four good goals.
