December Manager of the Month Awards

Blue Square Announce “Manager of the Month” Awards for December

“Clough Scoops Award As Brewers Make It Ten In A Row”

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has won the Blue Square Premier "Manager of the Month" award for December. Clough’s side ended the year in pole position in the Blue Square Premier table with a ten point lead. This was due to a fantastic run of form that extends all the way back to the start of November. Since then, Albion have embarked on a run of ten straight league victories. Clough was unlucky not to scoop the November award as Histon’s cup exploits eventually swung the vote in the favour of their boss Steve Fallon. There can be no doubt that Clough deserves the honour as he continues to break records with the team he joined just over ten years ago. During December Albion recorded victories over former Football League sides Cambridge United, York City and Mansfield Town. They completed their 100% record with wins over Forest Green and Altrincham. During the period they scored 13 goals and only conceded 5.

In the Blue Square South the award goes to Chelmsford City manager Jeff King. The Clarets won all three of their Blue Square South matches to maintain their lead at the top of the table. City won away at Welling United and local rivals Thurrock as well as beating play-off contenders Hayes & Yeading United at their Melbourne Park ground. King’s side have reached the half-way point of the season looking for a second successive title after last season’s Ryman League success.

Carl Macauley from Vauxhall Motors has won the award in the Blue Square North. The Motormen were expected to have a season of relegation struggle but find themselves just below mid-table after a fantastic month. Motors recorded a 100% record with victories over some of the division’s bigger teams. Macauley’s side travelled to last season’s Blue Square Premier relegated sides Droylsden and Stafford. They also won 1-0 at home to promotion contenders Harrogate Town.
