Cresswell and Bird join ambitious Eastleigh
Ryan Cresswell, formerly of Fleetwood, Rotherham and Southend, signed for Eastleigh from League Two champions Northampton Town.
The 28-year-old commanding centre-half is another excellent acquisition for the club and a fine addition to Chris Todd's squad.

“He is a winner and another player who can help take this club forward.
“He is an excellent age and we have done some fantastic business today.”
Speaking to Wendy Gee of the Daily Echo, Cresswell said: “I could have stayed at Northampton and trained hard and pushed for a starting berth, but the manager (new boss Rob Page) seemed to make his mind up early that he wanted to bring his own players in.
“I’m all for that, it’s his choice. But when this move came up, it wasn’t something I could turn down."

Eastleigh completed a good day of business by also securing the signature of former Portsmouth striker Ryan Bird. Bird is a 6'4" target man and Todd moved swiftly to sign the forward who scored 114 goals in 300 goals for Burnham, following the news of his release from Yeovil Town.
Speaking to the official website about Bird signing, Todd said: “Ryan has been a target for some time, we tried to sign him before the last transfer window in January. Ryan was released by Yeovil earlier in the day and we moved quickly to secure the signature.”
