FC Halifax Town 3-3 Eastleigh

Both goalkeepers were sent off in an extraordinary game at FC Halifax Town as Eastleigh were pegged back to a 3-3 draw.

The Spitfires were 2-0 up with just 21 minutes played as Sam Matthews' corner found the back of the net to open the scoring.

Chris Zebroski was on hand to double the lead from another corner that was flicked on by Andrew Boyce.

Scott McManus pulled one back for the hosts from the penalty spot just before half time.

After the break, Halifax were reduced to ten men when goalkeeper Sam Johnson was shown a second yellow card followed by a red.

Just past the hour mark, Simon Heslop scored his first goal for Eastleigh to put the Spitfires 1-3 ahead.

Tom Denton reduced the arrears for FC Halifax Town to bring them back into the game at 2-3 before Ross Flitney was then sent off for Richard Hill's side.

With no keeper on the bench, defender Boyce put on the gloves and made a superb save with his feet to keep the slender lead intact.

The drama wasn't over yet though as the hosts levelled the game with a late equaliser through Daniel Batty.

Richard Hill

Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce Richard Hill as their new first team manager, with immediate effect. Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead. Richard is vastly experienced having managed Stevenage Borough and assisted John Gregory at both Wycombe and QPR, Brian Little at Aston Villa and also fulfilled the same roles at Gillingham, Tranmere Rovers and Northampton Town. EASTLEIGH V NEWPORT COUNTY MONDAY 12th MARCH 2007 Conference South So far so good, as Eastleigh pressed on with their busy schedule with a second comprehensive win in as many days. Yet another classy performance from the Spitfires saw them come out firing on all cylinders finding themselves two goals to the good in the blink of an eye, and just like they did in the Farnborough match at the weekend, they comfortably saw the game out. The only change from the winning side, saw Liam Green replace the injured David Hughes in the centre of midfield. Newport were panicking from the start with the excellent Steve Watts and Jamie Brown letting their presence be felt up the front, giving their opponents no time on the ball.
