Baird hails Spitfires' "superb" football
By Wendy Gee -
Eastleigh boss Ian Baird praised his team for some "superb" football on a difficult pitch in Saturday's 3-2 friendly win at Winchester City.
But he is still awaiting a first clean sheet from his new-look Spitfires squad as they build towards their opening Blue Square Bet South fixture at Boreham Wood on August 18.

"I'm disappointed with the goals we conceded but, up to then, we had played extremely well in difficult conditions," said Baird.
"The pitch and the wind made things awkward, but I thought our football was superb."
"Two errors cost us goals and I'll be pleased when we get our first clean sheet."
City owner Paul McCarthy commented: "Eastleigh were quality today. They looked sharp and pacy and were all over us in the first half. We showed them too much respect.
"But we got our redemption in the second half and I was really pleased with that."
