Moore and Green react to draw at Forest Green

Ronnie Moore's reaction to the 1-1 draw away at Forest Green. Speaking of an injury picked up by midfielder Andy Drury, the Eastleigh boss said: “It was a nasty tackle on Drury, he’s definitely left his foot in the and the assistant [manager] was lacking in top professionalism. It was like the Dog and Duck and the officials dealt with it properly.

“Andy’s got a nasty cut on his ankle, he was brave to continue but he’s going to be missing for two or three weeks.”

“I thought we were terrific. They’re as good as any side in this league but we more than held our own, we put them under pressure and counter-attacked so well at times.

“We weren’t happy with a draw on Saturday but we’re happy with this because we won’t play better sides than them in this league.

“Overall it’s a terrific performance but they’re in there with their heads down which is good for me.

“I’m not normally happy with a draw but we played well when we had it and counter attacked with pace. There are loads of positives because they’re clever and changed the play the whole time.

“That’s the hardest game we‘ve had, whoever plays these will know they’ve been in a game. We didn’t get to grips with their diamond [formation] early on but we created the best chances, with their keeper making saves when he shouldn’t have done.

“But I was disappointed with the goal we conceded. It was sloppy. The ball’s played inside the full back and allowed to come in our box.

“Instead of picking up we’re marking space and they finished.”






Injury mars "terrific" Eastleigh display at Forest Green

EASTLEIGH midfielder Andy Drury is out for up to three weeks following a nasty challenge towards the end of tonight's 1-1 draw at Forest Green Rovers. FGR assistant manager Scott Lindsey was sent off during a feisty finish at New Lawn, during which Drury sustained an ankle injury following a foul by Ben Jefford.

EASTLEIGH V NEWPORT COUNTY MONDAY 12th MARCH 2007 Conference South So far so good, as Eastleigh pressed on with their busy schedule with a second comprehensive win in as many days. Yet another classy performance from the Spitfires saw them come out firing on all cylinders finding themselves two goals to the good in the blink of an eye, and just like they did in the Farnborough match at the weekend, they comfortably saw the game out. The only change from the winning side, saw Liam Green replace the injured David Hughes in the centre of midfield. Newport were panicking from the start with the excellent Steve Watts and Jamie Brown letting their presence be felt up the front, giving their opponents no time on the ball.
