General News from around the Club for the week:
The expected signature and return to Eastleigh FC of Andy Forbes from Sutton United is now complete with all forms having been cleared and lodged with the Football Association. Andy is under a one-year deal with The Spitfires.
The Football Association have announced that the new sponsor for The FA Challenge Cup on a three-year arrangement is Budweiser. The details of the sponsorship have not yet been circulated. The early Rounds of the FA Cup, FA Trophy (which will not include Eastleigh as yet), plus the FA Youth Cup; should be available on the FA web site from 1st June.
The Football Conference hope to distribute the fixtures for the 2011/12 season on July 5th. This is dependent on all issues being sorted and league constitutions remaining unaltered.
The Wyvern Football League Eastleigh side have four pre season games arranged: They are -
Monday 25th July away to Guildford City, 7.45pm
Saturday 30th July away to Bush Hill, 3pm
Saturday 6th August away to Portsmouth University, 3pm
Wednesday 10th August away to Winchester Castle, 6.30pm
News of former Eastleigh players through the week sees ex-Eastleigh midfielder Ellis Green, who made 13 appearances for The Spitfires at the start of the 2007/8 season, sign a new one-year deal with Ryman League Division One South outfit Maidstone United having drifted away from the game for the past eighteen months.
A season before that (2006/7), goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite made fourteen appearances for the Club before moving on. Paul has signed up with York City as goalkeeper coach though still retaining his player registration too. 42-year-old Paul finished the season at Lincoln City in a similar role.
Finally, last seasons only ever-present, Richard Graham, who made 58 appearances under Ian Baird only missing the two Hampshire Senior Cup games has recently signed for fellow Blue Square South side Dartford.
