The Spitfires will face Hampshire rivals Basingstoke Town in their first game of the Blue Square Bet South campaign on Saturday at The Silverlake Stadium.
Eastleigh Football Club have announced this season's squad (http://eastleighfc.blogspot.com/2011/08/squad-news.html), however Ian Baird is closing in on Gary Pryde and ex-Southampton player Jordace Holder-Spooner for the derby clash.
Eastleigh have had a successful pre-season consisting of five wins, two losses and two draws including a resounding 4-1 victory over Saints XI and a 3-2 success at home against a Reading XI.
Basingstoke have had not as many pre-season games as the Spitfires, however they have won three of their games, drawn one (a 2-2 draw against a Reading XI) and lost two.
Leading up to this game, Basingstoke have signed former Spitfire Shaun McAuley. The winger will be returning to the Silverlake Stadium after spending two seasons with the club.
The last time these two teams met at the Silverlake Stadium was October last year when Basingstoke won 0-1 with captain Ross Adams scoring the only goal of the game.
However The Spitfires did get revenge with a 2-1 win at The Camrose when Jamie Slabber opened the scoring with a shot from a tight angle, and now Sutton United's Anthony Riviere doubled the scoreline for Eastleigh.
Matt Warner did get one back for the home side but The Spitfires sealed all three points on that occasion.
Come and support the Spitfires at the Silverlake Stadium on their opening game of the season.
