Eastleigh young guns shine at Christchurch
By Wendy Gee -
EASTLEIGH sent a team of youngsters to Christchurch on Monday night and came away with a 1-1 friendly draw.
After Ben Osborne had fired Christchurch in front, 16-year-old striker Sam Wilson levelled with a twice-taken penalty after Priory keeper Stewart Kearney had moved too early saving his initial effort.
It was the Spitfires' second penalty of the first half with Gary Pryde having fluffed an earlier chance from the spot.
"It was a very good, competitive game and a good workout for our kids seeing how tough it is against a Wessex League side," said Eastleigh's director of football Dave Malone.
Eastleigh will hold further talks with ex-Saint Jordace Holder-Spooner with a view to sealing a possible move to the Silverlake Stadium ahead of Saturday's Blue Square Bet South opener at home to Basingstoke Town.
