Spitfires roar back for first win

By Wendy Gee -

ELATED Eastleigh stormed back from behind to notch their first win of the Blue Square Bet South campaign at Dorchester Town last night.

The Spitfires put a dreadful first-half display behind them to hit back through ex-Saint Jordace Holder-Spooner and two-goal Andrew White for a 3-1 victory.

Dorchester were easily the better side in the opening 45 minutes and led just after the half-hour through former Bashley striker Ryan Moss.

“We were lucky to go in just one down at half-time,” admitted Eastleigh manager Ian Baird. “The eleven who started looked like they’d taken sleeping tablets.

“But it was the proverbial game of two halves. We were absolutely awful in the first half – and that’s being kind!

“But we had a few choice words at half-time and the pace we’ve got in the side really showed in the second half. We stuck the ball in behind Dorchester, as we should have done earlier, and got our reward.”

The Spitfires hope to keep up the good work at home to Weston-super-Mare on Monday (3pm).
