15th placed Eastleigh took on 17th placed Three Bridges in this Suburban Premier League basement battle. The Spitfires came out 3-1 victors putting nine points between the two teams in the process.
Eastleigh started brightly, but had a couple of early scares from breakaways however Grant Porter was in good form between the sticks making two smart saves, to keep Eastleigh in it.
They went behind though when giant Three Bridges centre forward Lee Thomson headed the visitors in front.
Eastleigh got their equaliser when debutant powerhouse striker Obi Dene raced through with strength and pace crashing a shot past the Bridges keeper.
Ten minutes before half time Obi Dene latched on to a through ball and ended up one on with the keeper. As Eddie Oleleney raced out of his goal he caught Obi's legs who lost his balance but chased after the loose ball. As it ran out of play, the advantage had gone and the officials called play back for the penalty. Liam Winzar, the young right back stepped up and confidently placed the spot kick low to the keeper's right and into the back of the net to give Eastleigh a 2-1 lead at half time.
In the second forty-five, Eastleigh controlled the game well and went further ahead when Obi Dene got on the end of a Winzar corner and bundled the ball over the line to seal the 3-1 win. A fine performance by a young Eastleigh side.
