MATCH REPORT BY RICHARD MONTIGUE
Eastleigh lined up with a mixture of first team players and under 18's joining the main stays of the reserves. Captain Andy Harris, fellow midfielder Liam Green and forward Carl Wilson-Denis were the first teamers to bolster the team along with a couple of under 18 players including right back Jon Horner, and Nathan Lynch who partnered Wilson-Denis in attack.
Other youngsters stepping up to reserve team football for the night were, Ross Walliss and Tom Riddel joined by Zimbabwian trialist Patmore Sherini and Joe Prince-Wright who all started on the bench.
Eastleigh took the lead in the 12th minute when ZACH GLASSPOOL playing in an unfamiliar wide left position, met a cross on the far edge of the 18 yard box and hit a sweet diagonal shot first time to leave the keeper no chance.
In the 35th minute, Lynch laid the ball back for Wilson-Denis to shoot but the keeper tipped over for a corner. This set up five minutes of pressure which saw Lynch head over from a Harris corner and a good effort from young full back Horner following a Lynch lay off.
With half time just around the corner, Horner crossed for CARL WILSON-DENIS who sent his header up and over the keeper to give the Spitfires a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break. After the goal, Lynch almost made it three when through on goal in the 44th minute.
HALF TIME: Eastleigh Res. 2-0 Wealdstone Res.
In the second half, Eastleigh continued to dominate and were rarely tested, but failed to convert their pressure into a third goal.
In the last fifteen minutes, Ross Walliss came on to replace the impressive Liam Winzar, Joe Prince-Wright for Zach Glasspool and the Zimbabwian trialist Patmore Shereni took Scott Gilham's place in the heart of defence.
There was no further score and Eastleigh ran out comfortable 2-0 winners for the second victory in the week with a further game to follow at the Silverlake Stadium this time, on Saturday, where we will play hosts to Walton and Hersham.
