Hill appointed boss with Hessenthaler as assistant

Stewart Donald has revealed that Richard Hill will be the manager of Eastleigh next season with Andy Hessenthaler as his assistant manager.

The Spitfires chairman said: “Richard did ever so well when he was here before and he left too early.

“Since he went, I’ve made more funds available and Richard has always spent money well.

“Hopefully with what’s available to him now, he’ll be able to deliver.

“He seemed the logical choice. He’s a good tactician, he knows how to spot a player and he knows the league.

“Last time he was here, he didn’t have enough of a team around him with experience and Andy Hessenthaler will bring that as his assistant.

"Andy’s our sort of guy.

“He’s hard-working, very knowledgeable at this level and above, he’s a good coach and very well respected.

"He’s got connections with a lot of London-based players and we’re expecting to pick up a few players from those connections.

“Richard and Andy will steady the ship and help us kick on now.”

Eastleigh chairman says Hill was "the logical choice" to manage next season

CHAIRMAN Stewart Donald said it was "the logical choice" to appoint Richard Hill as permanent Eastleigh manager. Bringing back the man who guided the Spitfires to the Conference South title in his first full season in charge has been like comfort blanket for the club after a sobering 2016/17 that has seen Chris Todd, Ronnie Moore and Martin Allen depart.

Eastleigh can 'do a Fleetwood', says new assistant manager Hessenthaler

NEW assistant manager Andy Hessenthaler reckons Eastleigh possess the potential to 'do a Fleetwood Town.' The former Gillingham, Dover and Orient boss, appointed No2 to Richard Hill at the Silverlake for next season, has watched in admiration Fleetwood's rise from Conference champions to the League One play-offs in six whirlwind years.

Hill indicates returning Flitney's role

Richard Hill has indicated that Ross Flitney's main responsibility on his return to Eastleigh will be that of goalkeeping coach.

Flitney who won the Conference South with Eastleigh in 2013/14 comes with the added benefit of providing competition for the number one jersey.
Hill said: “Ross will be registered as a player but don’t forget that Ben Strevens (coach) and Paul Reid (head of recruitment) are also registered players, but it’s not the case that they’re going to play that many games.

“I’m not saying Ross won’t, but I’ve always said that he will be a good goalkeeper coach.

“Forget his age, experience and everything else, I told him when he was here before that he should think about doing his badges and I said it again when he was with me at Whitehawk.

“Until the last few weeks, Ross hadn’t been that interested, but I spoke to him again and told him this would be a nice opportunity for him.

“I’ve seen him put on some very good coaching sessions and it’s a chance now for him to…

Flitney and Zebroski return

Eastleigh have announced the return of goalkeeper Ross Flitney and striker Chris Zebroski.

Flitney, who has played almost 200 times for the Spitfires, will compete for the number 1 shirt and also join Richard Hill's back room staff as goalkeeping coach. He was a prominent figure in the side that won promotion from the Conference South to the National League as Champions in 2014.

Also returning is striker Chris Zebroski who joins on a 1-year-deal. Zebroski had a short time with Eastleigh in 2013. He last played for Newport County and brings with him Football League experience.

Zebroski signs for Eastleigh

Eastleigh FC are pleased to announce the signing of Ex-Cheltenham Town forward Chris Zebroski.
Chris, 26, joins as a free agent after being released by Cheltenham Town in January 2013. Chris had scored 6 goals in 24 appearances for Cheltenham after a summer switch from Bristol Rovers.
He started off at Swindon Town as a youth player in 2003-2004, and after an initial spell at Cirencester Town, worked his way back in to the football league, eventually transferring to Wycombe Wanderers for a substantial fee.

Richard Hill has stated that Chris is due to train with the squad today and will be available for selection for Tuesday evening's home game against local rivals Havant and Waterlooville. We would like to welcome Chris in to the squad and hope he can come and play to the best of his ability for the Spitfires.
