MATCH REPORT BY JAMIE MONTIGUE

Knocked out of the cup on Easter Monday, losing out to Sutton United by two goals to one in the semi finals, Eastleigh bounced back with a solid performance to get back to winning ways.

Young midfielder, performing for the reserves for the first time, Nick Watt, netted the opener with 30 minutes on the clock. Andy Jacob played a cross field pass to the left to pick out Watt who teased the Casuals full back before getting on to his right foot and unleashing a finish of the highest quality that sailed into the top right hand corner to give Eastleigh the advantage.

The closest the visitors came after the Spitfires had taken the lead, was a fantastic attempt that rattled Luke Douglas' cross bar before eventually falling to safety.

HALF TIME: Eastleigh Res. 1-0 Corinthian Casuals

Three minutes in and Eastleigh were threatening through Lewis Hunt. Brett Williams with the through ball before Hunt got his shot in, only to see the Casuals keeper come out quickly, alert to the danger to block with good handling.

From the resulting corner, the brilliant Andy Jacob, who impressed throughout the game with his hard work and running floated a perfect corner kick to the back post to find the fit again, Aaron Martin.

'Spud' as he is commonly known, continued his come back from a long time out on the sidelines with an excellent header, meeting the ball with precision with a good leap to nod the ball into the back of the net.

With Eastleigh now firmly in control, they comfortably saw the game out - the only other chances falling to the lively Scott Waters who found the sidenetting following Watt's assist and right at the death, substitute Nathan Lynch did extremely well to get past his marker to create an opportunity out of nothing.

Despite taking the ball too far, and two players begging for the ball in the centre, the youngster went for goal and got nothing for his efforts.

Ian and Wayne's side thoroughly deserved the win as they edge their way up towards the top half with a very strong finish to the campaign with games in hand.
