Aaron Martin signs new deal

Eastleigh have recently extended the contract of one half of their star centre back partnership. Aaron Martin has never looked back since being handed a regular starting place in the first team last December (2008), and has grown both in stature and ability along the way forming a formidable defensive duo with Tom Jordan.

Scoring three goals last season and helping the side to 10 clean sheets in 24 starting appearances, Martin has continued where he left off - as an ever present, in the current campaign.

Director of football Dave Malone reported the excellent news:

"Aaron agreed a new 2 year deal, which ensures that he is contracted to the Club until 2011. Brett Williams and Michael Green are also on Contract. We trust that this news will be well received, and further demonstrates our desire to retain and develop our best young players.

"With Chris Mason and Joe Maxwell both on loan at Bashley along with three other youngsters (Jason Sangha, Adam Wiltshire, Scott Walters) all at Andover - we believe that our youth system is now moving in the right direction.

"We have recently taken on 30 new players at our Academy (run in conjunction with Eastleigh College), and our School of Excellence has around 150 boys (aged 9 -15) enrolled for the new season."
