Blue Square Announce “Manager of the Month” Awards for February

Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr has won the Blue Square Premier “Manager of the Month” award for February. It's safe to say that Burr, who joined Harriers from Stalybridge Celtic in January, has enjoyed a fantastic start to life at Aggborough, starting with a draw at Crawley and a thumping win over Grays in his first matches in charge. After steering the club through a local derby against Worcester City in the FA Trophy in February's first game, he picked up a draw at title-chasers Oxford United in the league. Harriers then downed Forest Green before returning to Oxford to knock them out of the FA Trophy as the club booked a spot in the last four of the competition. There was the perfect follow-up, a 3-0 League win at home to Histon last Saturday. "Steve has had a fantastic start at Kidderminster and was a runaway winner in the vote for February's manager of the month," said Alan Alger of League sponsors Blue Square. "The appointment looked to be a shrewd one at the time and he hasn't disappointed. “It's Steve's third managerial award of the season, having already won the Blue Square North equivalent in September and December when at Stalybridge Celtic” Alger added.

In the Blue Square South the award goes to Newport County manager Dean Holdsworth. With the league sponsors paying out on a Newport title win over two months before the season is due to end, Holdsworth’s side show no signs of stopping. This is Dean’s third award of the season after another unbeaten month including four wins and two draws.

Nicky Law from Alfreton Town has won the award in the Blue Square North. Alfreton kept up their pace for a tilt at the play-off places in the division despite the disappointment of seeing runaway title challengers Southport and Fleetwood move out of reach. Law managed his side to three wins and two draws earning 11 points from a possible 15.

Blue Square Announce “Player of the Month” Awards for February

Altrincham forward Chris Senior has won the Blue Square Premier “Player of the Month” award for February. The former Halifax player has had a stop start career at Moss Lane and this season has been no different as he has battled against injuries and the odd suspension. It’s remarkable then that he has scored 13 league goals already this season including five during February. That fine monthly total started with a brace in the 5-0 victory over Salisbury City as Alty kept up their slim hopes of a play-off place.

In the Blue Square South the award goes to Basingstoke Town’s Mitchell Bryant. The former Manchester United trainee is at The Camrose on loan from Reading and broke a Conference record when scoring an incredible six goals in one game against Weymouth during the period.

Andy Brown from AFC Telford United has won the award in the Blue Square North. Brown notched five goals during the month as last season’s Setanta Shield winners aimed for that vital top five and a play-off place.
