Pre-Season Fixtures Update

With pre season matches now quickly approaching, there has been a number of changes to the matches originally announced.

Richard Hill’s charges still commence their programme at home to Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday 9th July with a 7.45pm kick off.

Their next game though has now been brought forward to Tuesday 16th July when they make the trip to Uhlsport Hellenic League side Wantage Town.

This game is followed by a home fixture on Saturday 20th July when Football Conference Premier League side Aldershot Town visit The Silverlake Stadium, which sees a return to Eastleigh for the day of Aldershot Town Assistant Coach Matt Gray for a fixture that is sure to attract a decent sized crowd to The Silverlake. 

The Aldershot fixture meant the cancellation of the proposed pre season fixture away at Calor Gas League side North Leigh. This fixture has now been moved to Saturday 10th August, which has meant that the game due on the 10th away at AFC Totton has had reluctantly to be cancelled and appreciate the co-operation from AFC Totton with this.

Eastleigh themselves though have seen a match cancelled at their visitors request. Portsmouth were due to visit The Silverlake Stadium on Wednesday 24th July. Portsmouth FC’s Andy Awford advised Eastleigh that owing to the current size of the Portsmouth squad and first team commitments they had to withdraw their offer of a friendly but will try and reschedule a match during the course of the season.

The revised Eastleigh pre season first team friendly list now reads as follows:

Tuesday 9th July home to Wycombe Wanderers 7.45pm
Tuesday 16th July away to Wantage Town 7.30pm
Saturday 20th July home to Aldershot Town 3pm
Friday 26th July Southampton XI home 7.30pm
Tuesday 30th July Woking home 7.30pm

Saturday 3rd August Salisbury City home 3pm
Saturday 10th August North Leigh away 3pm

Richard Hill

Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce Richard Hill as their new first team manager, with immediate effect. Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead. Richard is vastly experienced having managed Stevenage Borough and assisted John Gregory at both Wycombe and QPR, Brian Little at Aston Villa and also fulfilled the same roles at Gillingham, Tranmere Rovers and Northampton Town.
