Woking 2-1 Eastleigh

Eastleigh fell to their first defeat of the season at Woking.

The Spitfires went a goal behind on the stroke of half time against the run of play as Inih Effiong fired past Ross Flitney.

Ben Williamson hit the post and Chris Zebroski had a good chance to score when one-on-one. Defender Callum Howe also came close on his debut with a header that went just over.

After the break, the hosts doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute when Eastleigh's Gavin Hoyte turned the ball into his own net when trying to deal with a dangerous delivery from goalscorer Effiong.

Richard Hill's side were then awarded two penalties in quick succession in a frantic spell of action.

Williamson missed the first and then moments later Ross Stearn was brought down in the box. Ayo Obileye stepped up to score this time and pull a goal back for Eastleigh.

Eastleigh finished the game with ten men as Hoyte pulled up with an injury with all three substitutions having already been made.

WOKING 2 EASTLEIGH 1. EASTLEIGH'S unbeaten start to the Vanarama National League season is over. A fatal combination of missed chances and wretched luck sent the Spitfires tumbling to a 2-1 defeat at Woking tonight. In a match jam-packed with drama, the Spitfires fell behind on the brink of half-time totally against the run of play.

EASTLEIGH V NEWPORT COUNTY MONDAY 12th MARCH 2007 Conference South So far so good, as Eastleigh pressed on with their busy schedule with a second comprehensive win in as many days. Yet another classy performance from the Spitfires saw them come out firing on all cylinders finding themselves two goals to the good in the blink of an eye, and just like they did in the Farnborough match at the weekend, they comfortably saw the game out. The only change from the winning side, saw Liam Green replace the injured David Hughes in the centre of midfield. Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce Richard Hill as their new first team manager, with immediate effect. Richard will be introduced to the players and staff tomorrow evening and will take charge of his first match on Saturday against Maidenhead. Richard is vastly experienced having managed Stevenage Borough and assisted John Gregory at both Wycombe and QPR, Brian Little at Aston Villa and also fulfilled the same roles at Gillingham, Tranmere Rovers and Northampton Town.
