Eastleigh Reserves on top of Suburban South

EASTLEIGH RES. 2-1 CORINTHIAN CASUALS

LINE UP: Alan Walker-Harris, Craig Martin, Ryan Woodford (c), Dan Brunnen, Sam Stannard, Scott Vidler (Long), Chris Hall, Dan Smith (Weston), Adam Roberts, Ben Ngwa (Simpson), Zach Glasspool. SUBS: Andy Weston, Ben Simpson, Dan Long

6. Eastleigh went 1-0 up when Zach Glasspool sprinted to the by line to keep the ball in play before playing the ball across the six yard box for Scott Vidler to sweep home with his left foot from close range.

This was pretty much the only real chance of the half with the Casuals not really testing Alan Walker-Harris and Eastleigh failing to create a clear cut one themselves.

HALF TIME: Eastleigh Reserves 1-0 Corinthian Casuals

47. Two minutes into the second half Ben Ngwa came off injured and was replaced by Ben Simpson who recently joined the club from Bournemouth.

59. The visitors threatened for the first time in the game when the two centre forwards combined well before lashing a shot at the Eastleigh keeper but he was equal to it and Sam Stannard mopped up the danger.

63. It looked like Eastleigh would double their lead when the Casuals keeper bizarrely came off his line and headered the ball straight to the feet of Zach Glasspool who tried a pop shot as the keeper was still off his line but the shot lacked power and the keeper got back in time to save it.

79. Perhaps the best chance of the game for the home side in this encounter between the two top teams in the league, came when Glasspool flicked the ball on nicely to the substitute Simpson who tried to squeeze the ball in with the outside of his right boot when perhaps he could have taken a bit more time and picked his spot. The shot went just wide when really he should have done a lot better.

82. Eastleigh were continuing to search for a second goal and Ryan Woodford rose up high to meet Dan Smith's right wing corner but his glancing header flashed across the face of goal and went out for a goal kick.

84. Only two minutes later, the visitors equalised. The Corinthian stirker was shielding the ball whilst sat on the floor and he was allowed time and space to stand up, turn and deliver the ball into the danger area where the ball was tapped home for what looked like would earn them a point.

90. But Eastleigh had other ideas and a great combination of skill and pace from Taz Roberts saw him gracefully past his marker and he unselfishly played the ball square to Chris Hall who kept his composure to slot the ball under the keeper and seal the win and more importantly to make sure Eastleigh go top of the league in their bid for promotion.
