3 Away wins on the bounce for 'B' Team

Programme Notes from Brian Le Boutieller and Ady Burford – 01/09/2007

Well, after playing our first three opening games, I am very happy to report that after the disappointment of losing our first league game against Tooting & Mitcham 4-1, where to be honest we played poorly, the 2nd team players have bounced back with two away victories, beating Fleet Town 2-1 and Beaconsfield SYCOB 2-1.

The pleasing factor for me has been the fact that after talking through the performance we put in against Tooting & Mitcham, all the players took on board the comments from the management team and started to put these into practice with the much improved performance at Fleet Town, where Taz Roberts and Zach Glasspool were the scorers.

Our visit to Beaconsfield on Saturday provided the most pleasing performance to date and provide much optimism for the future, in a game which saw Eastleigh 2nd team field Jason Sangha, Chris Mason and Niall Bryant, all 16 year olds, and 9 other players all under 19.

The whole team played with poise and maturity, playing in extremely hot conditions.

Our first half display was excellent and entertaining and our 1-0 lead at the interval, which saw Zach Glasspool head home a superbly flighted free kick from Liam Winzar, was not a fair reflection on the balance of play in which Eastleigh dominated.

The second half followed much the same pattern, but as the heat of the day started to take it's toll, Beaconsfield equalised after we failed to succesfully clear the ball.

Justice I feel was done when, with 5 minutes remaining, Scott Waters secured all three points when he converted a well worked free kick, which was glanced on by Nathan Lynch.

Finally, I would like to maek a special mention to the following: Aaron Martin, who took over as captain, lead from the front and showed what potential he has to be leader on the field, Adam (Taz) Roberts, who has been our most consistent player to date and Chris Mason and Jason Sangha, both 16 playing their first senior game, performed brilliantly.

We have another test of character next week when we face Sutton United reserves away and to be honest our squad being so young, I am not sure whether to do a team talk or to recite a children's story (only kidding guys!).

Finally the B team would like to announce their latest addition to our management team. Sam Malone joins as coaching/management assistant, where I know he will become a great asset.

Yours in football,

"The B Team"

Since these notes, Eastleigh's 2nd team secured another resounding win to take them up to fifth in the table with a thumping 5-2 away victory to Sutton United.

With the Basingstoke game coming up thick and fast, the youngsters playing at the Silverlake Stadium for only the second time this season, will be looking to continue their fine form of late to put behind them the 1-4 home loss on the opening day of the campaign. Please come and support these talented players, the future of our club - whenever you can.
