Dorchester Town v Eastleigh - Preview

Dorchester Town v Eastleigh
Tuesday 17th August, K.O. 7:45pm

Eastleigh travel to Ashley Vickers' Dorchester Town this evening where both sides will be looking to get off the mark and register their first points of the new season having both lost at the weekend in their opening games.

The Spitfires lost at home to Bishops Stortford in their curtain raiser at the Silverlake Stadium, but will have been disappointed not to have come away with three points having had a whole host of clear-cut chances throughout the game.

Former Eastleigh defender and current Magpies boss Ashley Vickers saw his side go down 2-1 at Bromley.

EASTLEIGH:

Brett Williams and Jamie Brown have given Eastleigh boss Ian Baird food for thought ahead of tonight's Blue Square Bet South trip to Dorchester Town, writes Wendy Gee.

The pair made a positive impact coming off the bench in Saturday's season opener against Bishop's Stortford.

Their lively contribution wasn't quite enough to salvage the Spitfires a point in an unlucky 2-1 home defeat, but they have given Baird plenty of options as he plots the downfall of a Dorchester side also beaten 2-1, at Bromley, on Saturday.

DORCHESTER TOWN:

Manager Vickers felt his charges dominated proceedings in Dorchester's opening game against Bromley and were unfortunate to return home empty-handed.

Instead he was left to reflect on the county town outfit’s first opening-day loss since the 2005/06 campaign.

He said: “We gave them a good game and I’m dumbfounded as it was one of the most one-sided games I’ve seen. We will play worse than that in future and win.

“I’m not downbeat at all, not in the slightest. The result is a kick in the teeth in terms of the nature of it but the lads did themselves proud.

“They did all that we asked of them and on another day we will get our rewards.”

The Magpies, who lie 16th in Blue Square Bet South after the opening round of fixtures, will hope to get off the mark when they entertain Eastleigh tonight (7.45pm).
