Eastleigh bounce back with hard earned draw

EASTLEIGH flushed Saturday’s FA Trophy disappointment out of their systems with a pleasing 2-2 draw at fourth-placed Ebbsfleet United in the Blue Square Bet South last night.

Leading by an 11th-minute Jamie Slabber goal, the Spitfires then fell 2-1 down, but Anthony Riviere equalised early in the second half.

“It was a hard fought match. We had the better chances and, once again, I’m disappointed with the goals we conceded,” said manager Ian Baird.

“But, saying that, Ebbsfleet are the best side we’ve played this season.

“It’s a hard place to come on a Tuesday night and I’d have taken a point before the game.”
