Eastleigh v Woking - Match Preview

Match Preview by Kieran James

Eastleigh's luckless start to the season continued at The Longsmead Stadium on Saturday against Tonbridge Angels, where the Spitfires for the third time in their opening three games of the season, came away with nothing but defeat.

The Spitfires conceded four goals without a response with Jamie Brown and on-loan Reading left back Frankie Raymond both being sent off leaving Ian Baird's side with just nine men against the newly-promoted Angels. Unfortunately Tuesday nights game won't get any easier for The Spitfires as Baird's men host league favourites and third-placed Woking at the Silverlake Stadium, 7:45pm kick off.

The Cards have made a solid, unbeaten start to the season so far. Woking won 5-0 in their opening game of the season away to Paul Doswell's Sutton United, before beating Hampton & Richmond 2-1 at home and most recently drawing 0-0 against Boreham Wood on Saturday at home.

The last time these two teams met was at the Silverlake Stadium when the Spitfires ran out impressive 4-1 victors against The Cards. Sutton United's Tony Taggart scored two goals, Jamie Slabber and Eastleigh captain Tom Jordan scored a goal apiece to complete the scoring on that occasion.

The away games against Woking saw FA Cup heartbreak for Eastleigh when Woking won 3-2 with Jamie Slabber and Richard Gillespie both scoring. In the league, it finished 1-1 with Richard Gillespie scoring Eastleigh's only goal.

Come and support the Spitfires at the Silverlake Stadium and roar them on to their first points in the Blue Square Bet South this season, COME ON YOU SPITFIRES!
