Dorchester Town v Eastleigh - Match Preview

Match Preview by Kieran James

Ian Baird's Spitfires will travel to The Avenue Stadium on Friday night as they seek their first win in the Blue Square Bet South this season against Dorchester Town.

Eastleigh have not got off to the best of starts this season, however the Spitfires' new-look side kept an excellent clean sheet against league favourites Woking on Tuesday. Dorchester's midweek league game away to Hampton and Richmond Borough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Magpies, who are managed by former Spitfire Ashley Vickers, have got off to a slightly better start than Eastleigh with one impressive win at home to Maidenhead United (4-0) but have two defeats to their name with losses away at Dover Athletic (4-0) and at home against Eastbourne Borough (0-3).

The last time these two teams met was at the Silverlake Stadium in January 2011, when Eastleigh won 3-0 against Dorchester. Tom Jordan, Richard Graham and Jamie Slabber all got on the score sheet on that occasion for Eastleigh.

However the last time these two teams met at the Avenue Stadium, the Spitfires won comfortably 0-4 with Jamie Slabber scoring a hat-trick and Havant and Waterlooville centre back Chris Holland scoring the fourth for the Spitfires.

Former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back and now Dorchester's Nathan Peprah-Annan, had trials with Eastleigh in a pre-season game against Falkland Islands where Eastleigh won 6-0.
