Match preview - Eastleigh v Farnborough
By Kieran James
Just four days after a 4-2 loss to Welling United, The Spitfires demolished Staines Town on Saturday 0-5 with Eastleigh's top goalscorer Jamie Slabber scoring four and midfielder Shaun McAuley scoring a 35-yard power shot.
Three days later, Ian Baird's Spitfires now face a much tougher task against Hampshire rivals Farnborough at The Silverlake Stadium in the Blue Square Bet South.
Farnborough sit in 2nd place, five places and ten points ahead of Eastleigh; however The Spitfires do have one game in hand on The Yellows.
Farnborough have won five and drawn one out of their last six games. The Spitfires have won three, lost two and drawn one out of their previous six games.
The Spitfires have kept six clean sheets (two of them being at home) and have failed to score three times (two of them being at home) out of their last twenty games.
The Yellows have kept seven clean sheets (three of them being away) and have failed to score once (which was at home) out of their last twenty games.
The last time these two met was at Rushmoor Stadium where Farnborough took the lead in the 6th minute only for captain Tommy Jordan to score a powering header to equalise.
It wasn't until the 77th minute when former Farnborough Town (Farnborough's previous name), midfielder Tony Taggart scored the winner for The Spitfires, which saw Farnborough's eight match unbeaten home league run come to an end.
Farnborough's top league scorers are Bradley Bubb, who scored against Eastleigh four months ago, as well as Kezie Ibe. The pair have both scored 15 league goals.
Farnborough's last league game was against Bromley which finished 2-2 with midfielder Jack King scoring both of The Yellows goals ending a five match winning streak.
However Farnborough's Jamie Stevens conceded a penalty which Bromley converted in the first minute whilst Farnborough's Paul Booth had a penalty saved.
This is a vital game for The Spitfires so come on down to the Silverlake Stadium and roar the Spitfires into a play-off spot.
COME ON YOU SPITFIRES!
