Coulson puts club ahead of country for Eastleigh's FA Cup replay

Luke Coulson has opted to put Eastleigh ahead of England for the Spitfires FA Cup 1st Round replay at Swindon Town.

Luke has been in excellent form for Ronnie Moore's side this season and has scored six goals from a midfield position helping him to earn a call-up to England 'C'.

England C are due to play a fixture in Estonia on the same day as Eastleigh's FA Cup replay. Whilst Luke was delighted to get the call for his country and has been away on a training camp for a few days on international duty with England C, it has been confirmed that Eastleigh's leading scorer will be playing against Swindon.

Eastleigh chairman Stewart Donald revealed: “Coulson will be playing against Swindon – he wants to play in the FA Cup.”

Coulson's boss Ronnie Moore commented: “It’s fantastic he wants to stay and play.

“At the end of the day, we pay his wages, but this was Luke’s decision and I’m sure the England set-up understand.

“We have great faith in Luke and he will get other opportunities, there’s no doubt about that.

“He’d love to play for England. The last thing he wanted – and we wanted – was a replay at Swindon. For the next three weeks it’s all Tuesday-Saturday for us.”
