Eastleigh take on Reading XI - Preview

By Kieran James

Ian Baird's Spitfires will face Brian McDermott's Reading XI at the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday 9th July.

Ex-Spitfire Brett Williams will be against his former team as a part of a contract agreement when the striker moved to Reading for a sum in the region of £50,000.

Sean Morrison, Marcus Williams and Michail Antonio are stand out players among the names of a young 24-man squad to face Eastleigh.

The Spitfires will have the usual players such as goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot and last season's goal machine Jamie Slabber, however they will showcase trialists that played against Winchester City on Tuesday.

A possible return for Jamie Brown could be on the cards after the attacking midfielder was asked to play against Winchester City and played a good 45 minutes for the Spitfires.

Trialists such as England schoolboy Jack Vallis and former Reading striker Andy White are expected to be in the Spitfires squad.
