Three-goal Bubb reserves praise for McMahon

BRADLEY BUBB stole the show as Ian Baird's nouveau-riche Eastleigh condemned former Spitfires boss Paul Doswell to a miserable Silverlake Stadium return.
The on-loan Aldershot striker helped himself to a brilliantly taken hat-trick to pull the rug from under Doswell's fifth-placed Sutton United side who were soundly beaten 4-0 in the Blue Square Bet South.
Bubb's man-of-the-match performance will linger long in Spitfires' memories - not least for the ease with which he outwitted Sutton's former Havant & Waterlooville goalkeeper Kevin Scriven for his first and third strikes.
But while Eastleigh fans were marvelling at Bubb's master class in finishing, the hat-trick hero was thanking his lucky stars that his former Farnborough team-mate Daryl McMahon had followed him down south.
After a decent debut against Salisbury in midweek, midfielder McMahon's ability to unlock defences was again in evidence as he set up two of Eastleigh's goals, including Bubb's hat-trick strike.
"Daryl was at Farnborough with me, he knows how I play and he created a lot of goals for me there," said Bubb, the 23-year-old Grenada international.
"He's probably the best midfielder in this league by far. He's got great vision and he's very good tactically.
"He's a great signing for Eastleigh and I was happy when they brought him in. I always fancy myself for goals when Daryl's in the side."
Speaking after the game, manager Ian Baird commented: "I didn't expect a scoreline like that, but I felt that if we applied ourselves the right way and took the positives out of the Salisbury game, we'd have a chance.
"And it doesn't half make a difference when a striker finishes his chances like Bradley did today.
"He needed a goal and his first one was a sublime finish."
