2-goal Coulson inspires Eastleigh to 3-0 win over Maidstone in front of bumper crowd
Eastleigh 3-0 Maidstone United
Man of the moment Luke Coulson inspired Eastleigh to a 3-0 home win in front of a 4,114 strong crowd at the Silverlake Stadium.
Eastleigh's unbeaten run just keeps rolling on under the leadership of manager Ronnie Moore and his assistant Kevin Watson. The amount of games without defeat for the Spitfires is now into double digits as Eastleigh are yet to lose a game in ten consecutive matches. Long may the outstanding form continue!
There were two changes to the starting eleven from the side that drew 3-3 away at Woking on Saturday. Striker Ryan Bird started in place of birthday boy James Constable and Jake Howells replaced the injured Andy Drury.
Meanwhile, left-back Michael Green, arguably playing the best football of his career this season, was making his 250th appearance for Eastleigh - a great achievement and hopefully he will go on to play many more for the club.
Luke Coulson is in red-hot form right now and his excellent season got even better as he put in yet another outstanding match-winning performance for Eastleigh. He netted twice again this evening, a goal in either half, to make it a quite incredible six goals in just four games. No mean feat for any player, let alone a midfielder.
Eastleigh opened the scoring through Coulson's first goal of the game in the 30th minute. It was a goal of quality too as he shimmied one way and then the other before smashing the ball home.
Ryan Bird doubled Eastleigh's advantage five minutes before the break as he found the back of the net following good work from Jason Taylor to score his second goal for the club.
A second yellow card led to Reda Johnson's dismissal in the 77th minute meaning the hosts ended the game with ten men - this the only negative for Eastleigh on an otherwise near-perfect evening.
Five minutes from time, Luke Coulson popped up yet again to add his second and Eastleigh's third goal of the night. Coulson skipped past three opponents, making it look all so easy, before finishing well once more to demonstrate his undoubted ability. This was Coulson's sixth goal in four games.
After conceding three times at Woking - where the Spitfires surrendered a 3-1 lead at the weekend, this was the exact response required as Eastleigh recorded a clean sheet and secured three points in style in a win which sees Ronnie Moore's side rise to fifth in the table.
