Pre-Season Fixtures announced
Eastleigh Football Club are excited to announce their pre-season games so far, which will see the Spitfires take on a range of opponents including mouth watering friendlies against newly promoted Premiership side Reading and League Two Oxford United’s first eleven.
The action kicks off at the Silverlake with the Family Open Day on the 14th July 2012 for fans to meet and see the players train first hand and enjoy the entertainment provided by our various sponsors.
Ian Baird will then take his team to Poole Town in mid-July for an away match, followed by another two away fixtures against Oxfordshire’s North Leigh and local rivals Sholing.
At the beginning of August the squad will travel to Winchester before the prestigious home tie on the 7th August against Oxford United. We are thrilled U’s manager Chris Wilder has agreed to bring his first team squad and this will be a fantastic opportunity for the Eastleigh players to test their mettle against a league side who narrowly missed out on the playoff’s last term.
Pre-Season draws to a conclusion with another home tie at the Silverlake against newly promoted and Championship winners Reading. Brian McDermott’s team will travel the short distance from Berkshire and promise to provide a stern test for the Spitfires.
We hope to announce another fixture against Hampshire Cup opponents AFC Totton – this is likely to be on the 23rd of July but is yet to be fully confirmed. Southampton Football Club had kindly offered a friendly but the opportunity for Ian Baird to pit his wits against an Oxford United first eleven was too much of a temptation.
Don’t forget there is still time to enjoy our discounted season tickets. The club would like to thank supporters for the tremendous response we have had so far to our new Season Ticket prices, with tickets selling quickly. If you haven’t yet purchased your Season Ticket, if you do so before 31st July you will benefit from reduced “early bird” prices that will mean you get even better value.
It is shaping up to be a superb summer of football for Spitfires fans.
