A Reason to watch next season! Jai signs 2-year deal

Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce manager Ian Baird’s fifth summer signing today, securing the signature of high profile and gifted midfielder Jai Reason.

22-year-old Jai has agreed a two year deal at the Silverlake having recently declined a contract extension with Braintree Town who play in the Blue Square Conference Premier.

Spitfire boss Ian Baird said: "Jai's arrival has been a long time coming as he was one of my main targets from day one - at 22 he is certainly one for the future as well as the here and now. Any player scoring 13 goals from midfield in the Blue Square Premier will be sought after.

"He is exactly the calibre of player we are looking to attract. Next year's squad will need plenty of legs and a mixture of young and experienced players will hold the key".

Southend born Jai started his footballing journey as an apprentice at Ipswich Town and signed for them professionally in the summer of 2008. 6 months into the deal, with competition for places high, manager Jim Magilton sent the then 19-year-old on loan to Blue Square Premier outfit Cambridge United.

The move to the Abbey Stadium became permanent and was the perfect tonic for the midfield playmaker. Jai went on to help the club to the playoff final at Wembley, narrowly beaten to promotion by Torquay United for a place in the Football League. Despite making 36 appearances during the 2009-2010 the youngster was surprisingly released at the end of that season.

After a short spell at Crawley Town he joined Blue Square South Braintree Town in September 2010 and helped steer the Iron’s to the Blue Square Bet South title. He missed just two games, scoring over 10 goals for the Essex side last year who finished 12th in the Blue Square Bet Premier and earned England C recognition, alongside Iron team-mate, Kenny Davis.
