HARRIERS FLYING HIGH UNDER BURR 
 

Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘manager of the month’ for December. Casting aside a disastrous start to the season Burr’s team have ended the year in the play-off positions. Winning all five of their league games during the period they have also secured the longest winning run of the season in the division, currently on seven. Harriers scored 12 goals in the process and conceded just three. The defence kept three clean-sheets including a 2-0 home win over promotion rivals Wrexham. Their only blip during the month was the FA Trophy defeat away at Bromley. The Kidderminster boss securing the December award for a second season running.

In the Blue Square Bet North the ‘manager of the month’ award for December goes to Chester manager Neil Young. Chester have been in scintillating form as they have maintained a strong lead at the top of the table. Six straight wins during the month has extended their winning run in league matches to 11 straight games. Young’s side have scored an incredible 21 goals during the period and have conceded just five, including three clean-sheets.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘manager of the month’ award for December goes to Jamie Day from Welling United. Day makes it back-to-back awards having scooped the November honours. The Wings have continued their incredible form as they chase leaders Salisbury City. They have won all four of their league games during the month, scoring exactly 3 goals in each fixture. Their defence has been breached just twice. Welling also made it through to the third round of the FA Trophy adding another Blue Square Bet Premier scalp to their haul with a win at Woking.

MATT MAKES UP FOR LOST TIME WITH A DECEMBER DOUBLE

Jamille Matt from Kidderminster Harriers has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier ‘player of the month’ for December. The sought-after striker has made it a Kidderminster double for the month and also repeated the 2011 double he secured with boss Steve Burr. The period in-between has been a roller coaster for Matt as citizenship issues prevented him from fulfilling last season’s aim of promotion with the Harriers. The forward has bounced back to the squad to regain his incredible form and find the net seven times in five league games. That tally includes a hat-trick in the 3-2 home win over promotion rivals Newport County.

In the Blue Square Bet North the ‘player of the month’ for December is Antoni Sarcevic from Chester. The midfielder has been in great form during the month as his side have kept up their strong pace at the top of the table. Sarcevic has scored four goals during the month and contributed with a number of assists. His total for the month includes a stunning 25-yard strike in the 5-0 Boxing Day rout of Droylsden. The award makes it a Chester double for the month as boss Neil Young took the managerial honours.

The Blue Square Bet South ‘player of the month’ for December is Kiernan Hughes-Mason from Welling United. The forward took his season total to eight goals with five important strikes during the month. Hughes-Mason hit braces in the games against Hayes & Yeading and AFC Hornchurch. The former Millwall youngster also finding the net in a 3-1 away win for the Wings at Eastleigh. The award makes it a December double for the Kent side as they keep up their title charge.
